Sewfunky Waldorf Dolls

Maiya and her Mermaid

Every doll is carefully stitched by hand by me which takes up to 15 hours and sometimes more for each one. The doll’s head is filled with clean carded local sheep’s wool then carefully stitched to hold its form, then the 100% cotton skin is stitched over it. The eyes and mouth are carefully hand embroidered with cotton floss. I then crochet a cap to cover the dolls head and securely stitch it tight. Now I hook and loop each and every strand of wool to make a complete head of hair so your doll can have any hair style at all! For my dolls I use wool, silk, soy or mohair yarns for their lovely natural texture and beauty! Many of the wools I use are hand-dyed and hand-spun by local artists!  Everything used to make these dolls is of the highest quality and made with natural fibres.

Each doll’s body is filled with clean carded sheep’s wool and a little touch of lavender then carefully and securely stitched twice so it can last through lots of love! Each one of their handmade outfits is unique and made with natural fibers and is removable for changing.

A hand-made doll is a special toy to treasure for young children, each one is unique. Their simple sweet faces and their soft textures are very appealing to a child’s senses. Being filled with wool the doll absorbs the smell of home and when held close wool retains warmth. Children can learn to take care of their baby just like you do, by caring for their doll, carrying it in a sling and keeping it close at night.

If you would like to order a special doll for your child I need 6 weeks notice to ensure I have the time to complete it.
